Cute cars like the MINI have a new place called the habitat. I watched on sony style in axn that MINI cars have a wide range of models. The best thing about these cars is that you are able to customize it the way you want. It is a great way to flaunt your individual style and personality. There are convertibles and just some of the models are the MINI 1, mini cooper, and the mini cooper s. The Habitat looked really cool on TV. The building looked like a glasshouse. The place showcases a variety of MINIs and the nice part about it is that the inside of the building looks stylish and futuristic. I would recommend this to anyone who can't really be wild or very revealing of themselves because this is a creative way to express "the other side" in him/her.

I don't know why MINI is not famous here in the Philippines. I just learned about its existence this year when Irni showed me a magazine and he said that MINI is his dream car. That time, I couldn't figure out why it's his favorite. I didn't know much of its features before. All I know is that it's style is unique, uncommon, or even weird.

Roshni suggested that MINI would be the topic of our 21st post. So I researched about it and found MINI's official website, www.mini.com. There I learned about its different models and their features.

Microsoft has been working and improving its works ever since. Windows Vista has been released early this year, and under work in progress is Windows Surface. We may all have heard of touch screen, Windows Surface is similar but different. The touch screen is not your regular monitor. What you're gonna touch is something wide and fixed like your table. I've seen something like a trailer of it and it's really amazing that I can't really put it in words.

Physically, Windows Surface is the top of your table. It's wide and huge. Windows Surface is perfect for arranging, viewing, fixing, and mailing pictures. You can move things more freely. You can use your own handwriting in mails. With it, things are more personal.

Interaction with it is not limited with clicking and dragging with your fingers. It interacts with everyday objects such as brushes. It makes painting possible without a paint. You can also set it in a mode that when you put a glass of a drink on top of it, it would flash something like, "getting thirsty?". Phones can introduce themselves with it. Put a phone on top of it and the screen will flash information about the phone.

Files can be transferred to cellphones by placing them on top and just drag the files toward the phone. Copy paste won't be very confusing and would be easy just like dragging. When you drop a wifi camera on it, the pictures stored in the camera will appear on the surface and you can edit it the way you want there.

Microsoft Surface can also be your cashier in restaurants. You can choose your menu with it and your food will be delivered to you after a while. Put your credit cards on it and you can split the bill.

Amazing right?

I just want one.

But it costs $10,000.

According to wikipedia, Microsoft Surface (Codename: Milan), is a forthcoming product from Microsoft which is developed as a software and hardware combination technology that allows a user, or multiple users, to manipulate digital content by the use of natural motions, hand gestures, or physical objects, similar to the futuristic computer screens portrayed in Minority Report.. It was announced on May 29, 2007 at D5, and is expected to be released by commercial partners in November 2007. Initial customers will be in the hospitality businesses, such as restaurants, hotels, retail, and public entertainment venues

Surface is essentially a Windows Vista PC tucked inside a black table base, topped with a 30-inch touch screen in a clear acrylic frame. Five cameras that can sense nearby objects are mounted beneath the screen. Users can interact with the machine by touching or dragging their fingertips and objects such as paintbrushes across the screen, or by setting real-world items tagged with special barcode labels on top of it. Surface has been optimized to respond to 52 touches at a time.

Prices will reportedly be $5,000 to $10,000 per unit. However Microsoft said it expects prices to drop enough to make consumer versions feasible in 3 to 5 years.

Future Weapons is a show in discovery channel. I researched for some of the weapons in zone 2.
Here are just some of the weapons:

AS50 The British-made AS50 semiautomatic sniper rifle is as accurate as a bolt-action rifle – a remarkable breakthrough in platform stability and recoil reduction. Made by the famous Accuracy International brand, this British upstart takes on world leader Barrett for the crown of the world’s most accurate semiautomatic sniper rifle. It's been developed - and purchased by - the United States military's special forces.

vulcan & aardvark
A revolutionary anti-mine device developed by the eccentric British inventor Dr. Sidney Alford, the diminutive Vulcan uses a shaped charge - normally found in anti-armor warheads and missiles - to neutralize mines. The Aardvark is a mine-clearing vehicle that thrashes through minefields to destroy them by cutting mines apart or setting them off.

E-SMAW The Enhanced Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon (E-SMAW) is a battle-tested infantry weapon that's versatile, lightweight and lethal. The new Novel Explosive (NE) warhead is the latest addition to the SMAW's arsenal. The NE round utilizes an enhanced blast mixture of reactive metals and solid explosives to produce a combination shockwave and overpressure impulse that can disintegrate buildings, vehicles, bunkers and even small ships.

fire scout The MQ-8B Fire Scout is a vertical takeoff and landing tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). This stealthy, ground-controlled helicopter has a fully autonomous targeting and surveillance system that allows it to fly almost silently over sea and land to watch for hidden enemies across a 100-mile radius. Not only can it spy, it can shoot missiles - and also re-equip troops in the field with arms and supplies.

As what I've said earlier, I don't watch Discovery Channel. Therefore, the image and information here came from their website.

...thermobaric bomb...

The weapons were divided into three: zone 1, zone 2, and weapons that changed the world. Metal storm, panzer howitzer 2000, corner shot 40, thermobaric bomb, moab bomb barrett m107 rifle, lrad weapon, airborne laser, and excalibur were under zone 1.

Metal storm is an automatic weapon that is a combination of a gun barrel and a magazine. The only things that you can move are its projectiles. Ammunition is preloaded and stacked inside the barrel or magazine. Bullets are fired by electricity to generate a lethal force of thousands of rounds per second. Yeah, deadly!

Panzer howitzer is a cannon artillery system with a deadly striking power that comes from its fast 155mm gun. It's capable of making 3 rounds per 10 seconds and 20 rounds per 3 minutes. The only struggle in this is its overheating which is controlled by the gun barrel's chromium lining. Priming, loading, and clearing rounds is automatic. Its maximum range is 18 miles, but with smart rounds, the range doubles to 34 miles. It can have a speed of 30mph and it provides protection for its crew.

Corner shot is a combination of a swivel barrel and a video sighting array. It allows operators to observe and target at around corners without exposing himself. It can be rotated 63 degrees left and right. Its video or thermal imaging can be shared to team members. It can be fitted with a 40mm grenade launcher, small arm types like 9mm handguns, m-16, and smoke grenade launchers.

Thermbobaricbomb uses heat and pressure to destroy targets. It can generate an intense fireball with an overpressure blast. It is perfect for usage in tight spaces to limit collateral damage or reach underground targets.

MOAB or Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb, weighs 21,000 pounds. It carries 9 tons of H-6 explosives. It can be deployed by using either a spacious rear door or a cargo aircraft. It uses GPS to lock targets, but has a lethal radius of 400 feet. It is like multiple bombs combined but better. It can cause psychological effects such as an extensive blast wave and a nuclear-bomb like mushroom cloud.

Barrett m107, which is formerly known as m82, is a high-powered snipper rifle. It has a 50 caliber ammunition which is the standard round of heavy machine guns. It's range, which reaches upto 5,000ft, and its power can destroy enemy personnels, parked aircrafts, and vehicles. it has a 10 round semi-automatic action and has multiple trigger pulls. It also has a 10x telescopic sight and bipod. (Is the inventor's favorite no. 10?)

If you think that weapons are about explosions, fires, and bullets, then you're wrong. LRAD or Long Range Acoustic Device uses noise pollution and can emit 30-40 degrees acoustic beams. If close, it can cause permanent auditory damage. At 100 yards, the beam is extremely painful. It is commonly used in the range of 300-500 words as a warning or deterrent weapon.

Airborne laser uses a powerful chemical oxygen iodine laser in the nose of specially modified boeing 747-700 air freighters. it aims to shoot enemies with missiles that are to heat up target's metallic skin so that flight stress will cause it to weaken and break. it uses infrared to pick up ascending enemy missiles and fire bursts for 3-5 seconds to bring down targets. It is planned to have a professional version sometime next year.

Excalibur exhibits the best in precision and extension in range. It uses a hardened GPS-assisted guidance system with stabilizer fins and rockets. It can reach its target on a much higher angle, giving it the capability to hit a preselected 10m. wide area after a flight of over 25 miles.

I saw guns before. I tried to pull their triggers and carry them. Unfortunately, their heavy. We had some before. According to my brother, they were given away. I did all those stuff because of a dare and just plain child curiosity. I'm not really interested with guns and weapons. I'm actually afraid of knives. Wahaha. Anyway, I admire the talents of the inventors to try to secure precision. I just wish that they would use their talents on other stuff, ones that are not of destruction.

We don't have discovery channel at home. Our cable has only limited channels. So whenever I got the opportunity, like when we go to Manila for summer, I try to watch discovery. I learned from the post of Kristal that there is this new show Future Cars in discovery. I haven't watched it yet, but when I searched about it, I discovered that it really is interesting and I wish we had discovery channel here.

The show is a 4-part series

First is the extremes. In that section, they show inspired cars, inspired people, and inspired ideas. They show anything that seems extreme and remotely possible, like the idea of flying.

Next is The Body. It shows what future cars might look like. It offers great ideas from different designers on the future look.

Third is The Fuel. This shows all the alternative source of energy to power up the car. The future technologies that will be cleaner than today's fuel.

Fourth is The Brain. It shows how powerful computers might reside in our cars, making it able to think and communicate. It also suggests the world to be accident free because of the computer being able to make decisions that will choose the safest way in unsafe situations to save our lives.

I am not a loyal National Geographic fan. The stories of Jason and Irni generated the desire to watch Discovery shows. Unfortunately, they're not available here. Jason said that there are new shows which were premiered last July. One of which is Future Cars. Since I don't watch the show, I just browsed Discovery's site.

There I learned that future cars are smart cars which are able to transfer and share information or data to fellow cars. Drivers can download pictures, movies, songs, and even traffic information. In the future cars will use a signal that has a range of 3,300 ft. Information that requires internet, requires the car to be a hot spot or to have a communication with a car that has internet connection to gather the data second hand.

I am an internet and music person. The possibility of traveling and downloading music directly to your car is indeed great. This would allow people to drive with pleasure, especially the ones who have long trips. Oh, I just wish I could have a black and elegant car equipped with a lot of technology and food so that breaking down in the desert would not be a bad thing.

The e90 communicator from Nokia is truly fabulous. You can find almost everything in that phone. It has a screen outside, and a screen inside with the qwerty keyboard when you open the phone. The screen inside is 49mm x 105mm, 800 x 352 pixels and supports 16 million true colors! It has an Mp3 player and FM radio, 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, and a QCIF camera for video calls. It has 3G, HSCSD, and WLAN which gives high-speed internet connectivity. The e90 can be connected to other phones through USB, Bluetooth or infrared. It has a wide range of applications, from email with attachments, Adobe, GPS, and more.

It is very expensive but it is a great office-business phone. Its wide range of apllications and features make office work more efficient.

Since I ran out of ideas on what topics to suggest, I asked for Qharts' help and she proposed Nokia's e90 communicators.

Surely you have heard of the N series and their costs. New Nokia models are constantly being released and N95 still doesn't come in cheap. Like N95, e90 communicator is destined to be just part of my imagination and nothing more. This is due to the fact that it goes out to the spotlight with a tag of $1,000.

I don't like e90's outer appearance. It reminds me of our old cordless phone. Like books, I must not judge it by its cover. As you split it open, there comes out another screen and keypad. This gives users more options on how to use it in the comfortable way they want.

Its dual screen (240x320 outside and 800x352 on the inside) allows users to view perfectly pictures they've taken with its 3.2 megapixel camera and flash. It has a quad-band GSM, WiFi, and HSDPA radios. It also has integrated GPS and Nokia Maps.

Both its dual screen and its numerous features, which makes its appearance of no importance, make it another dream phone.

just last year, nokia released a new set of phones - the n series. these are phones which are manufactured specifically for great multimedia experience. and recently, nokia released another set phones - the e series. these ones, however, are made for business. an example is the nokia e90, a 3g smartphone. it has a dual screen; one used when closed and the other, used when the phone is flipped open. it recreates a small computer - having a small screen and a small qwerty keyboard. generally, the e90 is made as an assistant for business people.
